Area Spring meeting

All society chairmen are urged to attend, together with up to three society committee members.
If chairman is unable to attend, a suitable deputy should be nominated from the society committee.

The recent Spring meeting was on Friday 5 March 2010 at the Fingle Glen Golf Hotel. (Tedburn St Mary, Exeter EX6 6AF tel: 01647 61817). N.B. We think someone may have left a coat behind and they should contact the hotel to organise it's return.

Minutes of the Autumn meeting were accepted, team reports were given and area officers and committee were re-elected.

There were two guest speakers who talked about their respective roles in NADFAS. First was Penny Livermore, the Young Arts National Chairman, who explained her job at NADFAS with the aid of PowerPoint slides and a look at the valuable material available to societies via the NADFAS website. She was followed byJane Sawyer of the NADFAS Society Support Team who talked about the recurring problems faced by many societies throughout the country and the resources that the SST has to offer to help.

Both speakers were available to chat over the buffet lunch which followed and some useful exchanges of ideas occurred. Attendees were also able to look at two interesting displays, one of a recently completed Church Record and the other some work done in various Young Arts projects in the region.

It was disappointing that one or two societies felt unable to attend and we hope to encourage them to come to the Autumn meeting, which will be on Friday 22 October 2010 in the Fingle Glen Golf Hotel.

Advance notice: Future Spring meetings are likely to be Friday 4 March 2011 and Friday 2 March 2012, at Fingle Glen.
